Additional Info
This is an older body of work, completed years ago after moving into my first apartment. Here is the artist statement written at that time:
The Home series addresses feelings of lack of stability and an attempt to construct my own space that can be called home. Each drawing is an amalgamation of images taken from my apartment. Interiors and objects coexist, overlapping so that one image might present itself as stronger, they both obscure each other, or they flow and lead from one to another. They are a seamless connection of similar and contradictory ideas and feelings. There are moments of clarity, but even those are ambiguous or fail to reveal the whole. The viewer is easily lost while trying to discern the images, but here getting lost is pleasurable as the materials chosen successfully meld and confuse while creating beautiful colors and intricate forms. Each drawing in Home depicts a struggle to grasp onto the concrete while celebrating the beauty in the confusing complexity of life.
